RACE DESCRIPTION OF FINNISH SPITZ (Suomenpystykorva)
Country of origin: Finland.
GENERAL APPEARANCE: The medium sized, almost square. Dry, tight and with good reach.
Important proportions:
Length of body equal to height at withers. Chest depth slightly less than half the height at the withers.
Muzzle: Skull: = 3:4. Skull slightly wider than long, width equal depth.
Behaviour / Temperament: Lively, vigorous, brave and determined.
Can be somewhat aloof, but never aggressive.
HEAD:
Skull: Seen from above, egg-shaped, evenly widening towards the ears
skull is widest. Slightly rounded seen from the front or from the side.
Nearly parallel lines between the skull and nose.
Clearly furrow. Easy highlighted eyebrow arches and occiput.
Stop: Slightly marked, but clearly.
Nose: Black. Relatively small.
Muzzle: Narrow dry. Tapering from above and from the side. Right nasal bridge. Clearly marked jowl.
Lips tight, thin, narrow, well-pigmented.
Jaws / Teeth: Powerful jaws. Well developed and symmetrical teeth. Complete dentition. Scissor bite.
Cheeks: Slightly marked.
Eyes: Medium size, almond shaped, somewhat slanting, preferably dark.
Lively and alert expression.
Ears: Relatively high, always alone. Relatively small, pointed, very moving, covered with fine hairs.

NECK: Strong. Because of the

Chest: Deep, reaching almost to the elbows, not very broad. Light
vaulted ribs. Clearly forechest.
Underline / belly: Slightly tucked up.
TAIL:
Strong ringlet from the tail of a bend forwards close along
back, then down and slightly back flat against the thigh.
Tail tip reaches to mid-thigh. Pulled out when it is about to hocks.
Hindquarters:
General appearance: Strong, straight and parallel seen from behind. Medium angled. Medium strong bone. The thigh slightly longer
than the thigh. Upper thigh: Of medium length, rather broad, powerful muscles.

Stifle: Corrected forward, medium angulation.
Lower thigh: Muscular.
Hocks: Rather low set. Medium angled.
Hocks: Rather short, strong and straight.

the ears, cheeks, throat, chest, abdomen, inner
legs, back of thighs and tail. A white stripe on chest and a little white on paws allowed.

FAULTS:
Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered
incorrect. How serious fault should be graded according to how large the deviation is the welfare of the dog.
