I thought it might be fun to relay an amusing story about an incident that took place many years ago, with my first Finnish Spitz, Pixie.
Going out my apartment back door led down the stairs to a side yard. I would sit on the stoop and watch Pixie sniff around after our play sessions. Since it was a beautiful summer day, not too hot and with a slight breeze, it was just too nice to go back inside.
We lived along a major street about a block from a highway so having a lot of people and traffic wasn't unusual and I rarely noticed individuals. After all, we were far enough out of anyones way, and they far enough from us.
So I'm sitting there, feeling relaxed and having had fun with Pixie was in a wonderful mood. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed some guy riding on the sidewalk with his sport bike. About 10 seconds after her had zoomed by I noticed him backing up his bike.
The bike guy asked, "Hey, is that if FOX?"
Something inside me wanted to mess with his head so I said, "Yeah, but you can only have one if you get a special permit from the DNR (Department of Natural Resouces)."
He responded, "Wow! Cool!" And with that, he pedaled off without another word, And without me getting to say "Just kidding".
I have chuckled about that now and again, and wondered if he ever figured out I was kidding. I have also thought how he may have gone that evening for a beer with some buddies, told them the story - not knowing the truth; and been laughed at by his friends for being gullible. I don't know, but that thought, though funny, kind of makes me feel a bit gui
