Tools for your Dog
There are a number of tools you may need for care and maintainance of your Finnish Spitz, or for training in specific activities. Following are somem suggestions.
Nail Clippers
For proper foot care your dog's nails will need at least some attention. Unless you plan on having a professional regularly clip your dog's nails, a good set of clippers is essential, as is the need to learn to use them properly. Allowing nails to grow too long can alter how your dog stands or runs, cause pain or even permanant damage to joints.
When cutting your dog's nails it is important to do so carefully. Be mindful that a vein runs through the nail, which can be seen on the underside of the nail. If you cut too much at a time, and into that vein your dog will feel pain and the vein will bleed, perhaps profusely. Having a styptic pencil or styptic powder handy while cutting nails will help stop this bleeding though effort should be made to avoid such accidents.

Cotton Balls
Cotton balls are a safe alternative to Q-tips for cleaning ears. They are also a handy item to keep for application of antiseptic or antibiotic ointments for minor cuts or scrapes.
Toothbrush
A toothbrush for a dog? Keeping your dog's oral health intact is important in his overall health. Depending upon his diet and other factors, he may be more likely to build up tartar on his teeth, which breaks down the protective enamal. A toothbrush with soft bristles can be a helpful tool in preventing tartar buildup, bad breath, and gum disease.
