Breed Standards
Breed standards have been developed and revised over the years to describe the ultimate picture of perfection. Originally, the standard was based on the pure-bred dogs found in deep wooded areas of Northern Finland. The standard took into account the purpose of the dog, not only in function, but in appearance. Because the Finnish Spitz' main purpose was not only a companion for his human partners, or pack, but as a hunting partner and watch dog; so the breed developed for this multi purpose.
As a breed that is on a level one step down from Tomarctus, historically speaking, it is quite an ancient breed. As civilization has evolved, so has the Finnish Spitz.
